Powerful New Features Added to Latest Version 3.1.7!
64-bit Application Support
PinPoint now supports monitoring and root-cause analysis of both 64 and 32-bit user applications in the same customer environment.
Microsoft Terminal Server Support
Support for Microsoft Terminal Services (RDP) has been added to PinPoint, including end user response time monitoring.
Root Cause Analysis Support
All PinPoint reports are now based on “root cause” analysis. This provides faster time-to-problem resolution, and broader coverage of events.
Multi-level Agent Options
PinPoint supports server monitoring with either a lightweight agent, a “heavier”, extended data agent alternative, or with no agent at all. This gives customers maximum flexibility in balancing depth of data collection with performance overhead.
Introducing “Business Metrics” Support
RTO PinPoint now allows users to integrate their own service level metrics so that monitored application and system metrics can be analyzed and correlated with desired service levels. Business metrics are typically used to track higher level service indicators such as application availability and responsiveness.
Additional Scalability Enhancements
RTO PinPoint exploits 64-bit Operating System environments to support very large deployments. RTO PinPoint comfortably supports monitoring of 500+ servers per collector/analysis engine and has been optimized and tuned to support very
large application server farms making it easy to monitor the performance of
business critical applications in an enterprise datacenter.
Volume Alert Handling
RTO PinPoint starts up faster and now handles “post event” management of alerts automatically without operater intervention. This is especially beneficial for high-volume alert scenarios.
Other Significant Features From Past Releases
Automatic Alert Response Script Triggers
This powerful feature allows custom scripts (VBScript, Jscript) written by you to be automatically triggered for execution! Click here to download a of how to use this feature
Performance Data Export Wizard
With this useful feature you can export performance data collected by RTO PinPoint to be easily exported to your favorite database such as SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL. This allows you to perform analysis and deliver reports to upper management on how your business-critical applications are performing.

Client Performance Monitoring
Extends the application data you can collect, showing client performance
information. You now have an extended data report option to monitor client
performance at the desktop, in real-time! As the user’s performance
degrades, PinPoint will automatically collect information about your client
machines.
The client agent installation is simple, and information collected on the
client includes client CPU, Network, Disk, and Memory. PinPoint generates a
report showing the user’s desktop information on demand, or when there are
problems with Citrix end user experience.
The extended data analysis also automatically monitors the quality of the
network from the user’s remote desktop to any network server.
Automatic Server Discovery
Now you can automatically determine the servers the application references.
With PinPoint, you immediately know the other terminal servers in the farm,
the database servers used, and any file servers used by the application. To
make these servers part of your application, you simply ‘promote’ servers
into the application.
Agent-less Monitoring
Even though the PinPoint server agents are very lightweight (Nano-Agent™
Technology), not all servers are candidates for agents. This version
introduces agent-less monitoring. The PinPoint analysis engine manages the
agent-less servers and gathers the metrics using standard monitoring
protocols. Agent-less monitoring are typically used for your domain
controllers, your exchange servers, or any windows servers that you wish to
keep agent free.
Exchange, Outlook Monitoring
Monitoring your Outlook clients when running under Citrix server just got
easier. The Citrix agent will detect the Outlook users and monitors the
Outlook round trip time. Use this to better understand how one of your
primary applications in your organization is performing.
Application Query Analysis
Now you can monitor the SQL server ODBC queries generated from your
application. You measure these from the application server or from the SQL
server. This Extended Data report shows you the number of ODBC queries, the
query performance, and the amount of data collected from each query. This
gives application owners a better understanding of application performance
and the ability to derive root cause information about the database.
