News from RTO Software

Kevin Goodman, President/CEO Welcome to the September edition of RTO Software’s newsletter!

Each month we provide tips and insight to keep you informed on how to improve the experience for your users. One thing we have learned at RTO over the last eight years that we’ve been in business is that smiling users means a happy IT staff.

This month we’re talking Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) as we gear-up to attend VMworld 2008, September 15-18 in Las Vegas.

RTO is excited to be attending VMworld. If you are planning to attend, please make a point to stop by our booth in the New Innovators section, booth #12. If you are not going, join us via the Internet on September 24 as a special guest from VMware and I will discuss innovations and companies making news. In addition, we will answer your VMworld and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) questions.

  EVENTS

With VDI top of mind, take a look at some of the results of last month’s RTO Webinar with Brian Madden. Brian and I had an opportunity to engage over 75 attendees with our impressions of this year’s BriForum conference held in Chicago.

Keeping to an election year theme, Brian and I polled the Webinar attendees on key topics. Here’s what we learned:

  • During our presentation we learned that 13% of our audience currently virtualize all of their Citrix servers. That number is sure to grow as 66% of the remaining polled, are already virtualizing some of their servers or plan to in the near future.

  • We also learned through our polls that most attendees are entrenched in 32-bit architecture for their Citrix environment. Not one attendee has moved to x64 exclusively.

  • Finally, we learned that VDI use is on the rise with 39% of the attendees currently in production or implementing it into their environment. If you are in this group, I encourage you to talk with RTO about how we can help your implementation.

I want to personally thank those of you who attended last month’s webinar, and to welcome all of you to attend our September event. This monthly gathering is an excellent way to get the pulse of virtual computing and have an opportunity to challenge the experts with your questions.

See you at VMworld and have a great day!

The Challenge

You just survived the harrowing process of air travel. The glitz, sounds, and lights of Vegas shatter any remaining sense of tranquility. Weaving your way through the arrival crowds, you hurry to wait on your luggage and then hurry again to queue in the cab line. While shuffling and standing in line, you suddenly realize – now that you are here – how are you going to chart your way through the courses, sessions, and trade floor of VMworld?

And what if you miss something?

The Solution

While at the show stop by the RTO booth (New Innovators Booth #12). This is a great place to jump start your knowledge of VDI. Hear from the experts what events are not to be missed at this year’s show. After the show, attend the RTO webinar on September 24th to learn what we and the VMware experts thought were the key moments from VMworld 2008.

RTO PinPoint

Performance/user response time is a common challenge faced by IT departments supporting business applications. In an effort to better enable IT support personnel to monitor their business applications, RTO Software has developed RTO PinPoint, an Application Performance Monitoring product that goes beyond the network for performance information.

RTO PinPoint provides the IT department with valuable tools to monitor and facilitate optimization of mission-critical applications in any Windows server environment. Using agent-based monitoring techniques, RTO PinPoint gathers information from your server applications and transfers it through a sophisticated Analysis Engine to display on the RTO PinPoint Console.
