System Requirements

1. A Windows XP Professional or Vista desktop, Windows 2000 Server or 2003 Server on which to run scans
2. A minimum of 1 GB of memory, a 2.0 GHz processor (or faster),
3. and a minimum of 1 GB of disk space is recommended (for a network of 20K devices.
4. No firewalls on the scanning device (i.e. XP Windows Firewall)
5. The user installing and running Discover must have local Administrator rights
6. The account Discover runs under should have Admin rights on all Windows devices attached to the network (*)
7. Community Strings (besides “Public”) used by SNMP-enabled devices on the scanned network will improve the success of the scan (*)
8. Windows Remote Registry and the Windows Management Interface (WMI) services enabled and started on scanned devices (*)
9. .NET 2.0 installed on the device where Discover is installed – Available from Microsoft.
10. IP range addresses if multiple IP ranges are to be scanned (vs Windows domain and current subnet)

* While not an absolute requirement, these items significantly improve the amount and depth of information retrieved from scanned devices.
